Stella Kehayas Jeon

Stella Kehayas Jeon, born in Greece on March 10, 1920, moved to Franklin, Massachusetts with her parents, James C. Kehayas and Despina Nikolaidis Kehayas, in 1926. She was the class secretary for the Franklin High School Class of 1938. Her father ran Jimmie’s Store in downtown Franklin, selling penny candy and soda to the children of Franklin. Her husband, Nicholas Jeon, ran the store in later years.

 

Jeon worked at Glen Meadows in Franklin from 1972 to 1999, retiring as administrative supervisor, and was an active member of the Franklin community. She was a member of the Finance Committee, the Industrial Development Commission, the Council on Aging, and the Senior Center Building Committee. She hosted Senior Circle, a cable tv program, was President of the Alden Club, and was chairwoman of the Frances Eddy King Student Fund. She was named Unsung Heroine by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women in 2014.

 

Stella Jeon died peacefully in her home on May 21, 2014.
