Carmelita Healey

Carmelita C. Dynan Healey, born in Somerville, Massachusetts in 1924,  served in the U.S. Navy during World War II earning the rank of pharmacist’s mate third class from which she was honorably discharged in May of 1946. She moved to Franklin, Massachusetts in 1949 at the age of 25.

 

Healey was an active member of the veteran community in Franklin, serving as the veterans agent for the Town for over twenty years from 1963 to 1995. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars and commander of the Franklin Post No. 75 American Legion. She also belonged to the Franklin Senior Citizens, the American Association of Retired Persons, and St. Mary’s Church where she was a communicant.

 

Carmelita Healey died on September 4, 2007 at the Franklin Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and is buried at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
