Anne King

Anne M. Sullivan King, born in South Boston, Massachusetts on September 22, 1929, moved to Franklin, Massachusetts in 1958 with her husband, Howard F. King Jr., to raise their family. She worked at the Woonsocket Call for twenty-four years, retiring as bureau chief in 1992.

 

King was a well-known member of the Franklin community. She served as public relations representative for Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School, was the first female member of the Franklin Rotary Club for which she also served as president, was the first female director of the Benjamin Franklin Savings Bank where she was also a clerk and a member of the audit committee, and served as a eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Church where she was also a member of the Church’s parish council and the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

 

Anne King died peacefully on May 4, 2013 at the Milford Regional Medical Center and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin.
